Breast augmentation enhances the size, shape and volume of the breasts.
What does the procedure involve?
The first step in a breast augmentation procedure at, is a consultation with Dr Andrew Broadhurst. This is a very important step because it allows Dr Broadhurst to become familiar with your particular concerns and desired outcomes. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss the shape, size and style of the breasts you would like to achieve, and our team will work closely with you to make sure that you make the choice that best suits you and that you fully understand what the surgery and recovery involves.
When it comes to the procedure itself, breast implants are placed underneath the breast tissue or chest muscles, depending on the case. To do so, Dr Broadhurst will make an incision in the crease under your breast, dissect a pocket and perform the rapid recovery technique. When the implant has been placed and properly positioned, Dr Broadhurst will carefully close the incision in a way that minimises visible scarring.
What is the recovery like?
It is completely normal to experience some swelling and tenderness following a breast augmentation procedure and you may notice some bruising around the site of the surgery. Wearing a surgical bra will help to provide support while you heal, as well as maximise your comfort.
During the recovery period, you must follow Dr Broadhurst’s recommendations when it comes to exercise and strenuous activities. While each patient is different, it is best to take time to rest and properly recover before resuming your usual level of activity —this can take up to six weeks. You will need to come in for follow-up appointments so that Dr Broadhurst can assess your recovery and check for any potential issues and complications.
What kind of results can you expect?
Although you will likely experience some swelling and bruising following surgery, once these side effects have subsided you will begin to notice the results of your procedure. Your breasts will appear fuller and more symmetrical and you will see a generally enhanced shape.
